First Draft Notebooks, history of reporter's notebook featured in Times-Dispatch
The reporter's notebook has several origin stories. The notebook that became the industry standard — and inspiration for First Draft Notebooks — was created in Richmond, Virginia, at a little office supply store called Stationers Inc.
